Improving living conditions requires more than short-term assistance. Individuals and families need opportunities to develop their capabilities, secure sustainable sources of income and participate productively in the economic life of their communities.

LifeLab therefore connects economic development with education, skills, employment, agriculture and entrepreneurship. Strengthening people's ability to work and generate income can improve household resilience while contributing to stronger local economies.

This approach focuses on:

• Strengthening the capacities of youth and supporting their preparation for productive and sustainable employment.
• Developing technical, professional and managerial skills in productive sectors, including agriculture and related livelihood activities.
• Supporting skills development and employment pathways that respond to changing economic and labor-market needs.

Youth and women are important contributors to social and economic development and can play a significant role in shaping the future of their communities. LifeLab places their participation at the center of its approach to education, work, livelihoods and community development.
